Where are the appliances?

I normally describe myself as observant, or "detail oriented", as they say in "the business world". Not this time. I completely missed the boat on this one.

I went grocery shopping for the first time yesterday. It took me about 5 minutes to understand if I was buying mayonnaise or pudding or tartar sauce or marshmellow spread. I was drewling as I passed by the chicken, turkey, and beef aisles. I did manage to sneak some tuna and lunch meat into the house.

This is day four in the new apartment, and I finally realized there is no: microwave, toaster, OVEN, or dryer. Did I really overlook all that? You betcha! Looks like I'm roughing it for the next 5 months. There is a make-shift stove though. So I can toast my bread on a skillet and boil water.

Cheers!

do vegetarians not dry their clothes?

glad to see your getting settled some.

as far as the smoking thing goes. if someone is smoking in your face - just start coughing in their face. the conversation should flow from there.

You are Appliance Constricted. Can you buy pre-cooked chicken breasts anywhere? That seems an absurd question based on what I know of Spain. But surely you can buy smoked meats SOMEWHERE that you can eat cold. And cold cuts! Don't forget cold cuts! And jerky! Do they have jerky? I think it's "jerkita" in Spanish. I think.

Tait- I thought it was common knowledge that vegetarians prefer not to dry their clothes. Come on! I'm investing in an oxygen mask to wear around the city.

Stevie- I've been surviving off cold cuts! I'm looking for pre-cooked chicken for my salad. My personal favorite is putting tuna on my salad, not to be confused though with "tuna salad". Yum! I've yet to find jerkita, maybe its masculine "jerkito". Yeah I think that's it.

TOFU anyone??

I love you, but tuna on salad (something the Brits do with joy) is strange and weird.

Not really. It's okay.
